Hotel Estheréa ★★★★

Our third visit, an opulent hotel especially beautiful at Christmas

Queues in lobby at check in and out times.

Location is superb. The exterior, reception/lobby, lounge and bar are extremely charming with or without the extraordinary Christmas decor in abundance when we stayed for five nights in November 23. Guests could often be seen photographing the gorgeous interiors with residential cats as models. Our room was aesthetically pleasing regarding wallpaper, window dressings and bedding. The bar could be a great hangout if developed.

We were underwhelmed by size of room. Compactness is achieved by having shower and toilet cubicles with doors opening directly into sleeping area. Bathroom sink is situated au plein air behind the entry door. [Perhaps the property description mentioned this but I did not see it.] The bar is a great area to linger during the evening. Although it is “open” during the day (only for hotel residents, apparently), it is effectively only staffed from 5pm. If you REALLY want a drink, you must hassle a staff member in reception area. Such a shame because I saw soooooo many well-heeled people walk in hoping to find a congenial place to have a drink. Even after 5pm, staff seemed slow to respond to the many eager clients ready to order a drink. I was in a position to observe that staff talked animatedly and a great deal behind the bar, and were quite slow to deliver cocktails. A noisy tap behind the bar was turned on each evening and stayed on for an incredibly long time until a staff member chose to turn it off. We can only trust that the sink had an overflow outlet. We often waited so long to order that, on our fifth night, my husband bought me a bottle of white wine from the supermarket so I could help myself. The pouring of my own drink was detected and reprimanded straightaway! If only she could detect how long her patrons had been waiting.

The most beautifully decorated hotel I have been in Amsterdam.

Each room is luxurious, comfortable clean with high quality fittings and linens. The lounge areas on the ground floor are glamorous beautifully furnished with chandeliers, a warm firepit feature, sofas and drinks facilities that are free to access. There are two hotel cats hanging out to greet guests. The ensuite was warm, with underfloor heating, plenty of toiletries . The staff are friendly and helpful.

The location and decor are amazing. This place is truly stunning with lots of quirky and luxurious details. The complimentary tea/refreshments area is stylish and delicious.

The toilet was a little cramped but the bathroom was huge and had a bath. The room didn’t have a great view (Room 400)

The attention to details made it feel like a place made for me and my Love. It shouldn’t be called a Hotel Estheréa”. Instead it should be called “The Enchanté Estheréa”

The room that we got facing the canal was too tiny. Room 208. Room 215 was bigger but without any meaningful view. I do hope the next time we get a Room(s) deserving of the Place we got to “Love”

Exceptional building in a perfect location

The hotel was decorated beautifully for the festive season, It is in a wonderful location but also not too noisy as you might expect in a busy city location

Our room was quite small but it was the twin we requested and had a wonderful canal view. Our friends stayed in a rear room and this was much larger and had a jacuzzi bath.

We stayed at this hotel in April 2022 and returned as part of our anniversary trip this year. The staff are very professional and exceptional in meeting our needs. The room was spacious, comfortable and inviting. When booking the reservation, I added that it was for our anniversary and found a thoughtful and generous "Welcome" gift waiting on our bed. We love it's location in the west canal zone and it's proximity to dining, shops and the tram station. We love Wilhem the cat!!!

The cleaning staff was disappointing this visit. The room never seemed to be verified complete. We found that the bathroom was not attended to with the same care as the room. We found bottle of tile cleaner was left on our tub when returning late afternoon-early evening. However, within 5 minutes of returning, we had knock at the door asking if the room had been completed. Given we were tired from all of the days events and were getting ready for dinner, we said that everything was fine...

Coffee/tea/cookies available in lobby 24/7! Great breakfast! Knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous staff! Plus there were two lovely kitties!

This hotel exceeded my expectations hugely, it is a really well located hotel which is down a quiet enough road to give you a sense of calm, but easy to get to any of the busier areas. The room itself was incredible, very comfortable and well appointed. The staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed exploring the hotel and having a cocktail in the bar made by the knowledgeable bartenders. Breakfast was great with plenty of options.

The location was awesome. Within walking distance to the city center. Very friendly staff. So happy we stayed there!

Loved everything about our stay, this was our 3rd time at this hotel and it never disappoints.

Located on a quiet canal street, Hotel Estherea is conveniently located. The hotel’s decor is an ornate and beautiful nature theme. Everything is clean and well kept. The staff are friendly and accommodating. My double room had French doors overlooking their garden and it was a pleasure to sit and unwind with this view. A large bathtub with rainfall shower was a nice end of day experience after walking the streets of Amsterdam all day. The hotel lounge had a great selection of beverages and food. I enjoyed their beef slider with frites which was perfect as a bedtime snack accompanied by a draft Heineken. A magical experience amid the hustle of the city!

There is nothing that I could change to improve on their lovely establishment.

The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was commodious and warm. All in all very nice

It took us awhile to figure out the shower but we finally did. The lights took a bit to figure out too but once we understood how things worked it was just fine
